The P-Bruins Fall to Portland Pirates 1-0 in Shootout

PORTLAND, M.E. - The Providence Bruins traveled to the Cross Arena tonight to face the Portland Pirates at 7:00PM.

The Providence Bruins and the Portland Pirates were neck in neck through the first period. Providence had 5 shots on goal but were not able to capitalize on any of them during the first 20 minutes of play. Jeremy Smith blocked all 7 of Portland's shot on goal, keeping the game scoreless through the 1st.

Entering the second period, both teams were eager to get on the board. Although Providence outshot Portland 13-5, they were still unable to break the tie through the second period.

After a 40 minutes of the play, the Providence Bruins and the Portland Pirates entered the third period determined to break the 0-0 tie. Both teams battled through the third with Providence getting 10 shots on goal compared to Portland's 9 shots on goal. Despite a tough battle in regulation, the score remained 0-0 at the end of the third.

With the game scoreless, the Providence Bruins and the Pirates went into overtime. After a full seven minutes of overtime, the teams forced a shootout. McKenna was able to block all three shots from Flick, Camara, and Warsofsky. The Providence Bruins ultimately fell to the Portland Pirates thanks to a shoot out goal from Jordan Szwarz.
