IceCaps Re-Sign Defenceman Parent to PTO

The St. John's IceCaps announced they have re-signed defenceman Ryan Parent to a professional tryout contract.

Parent, 27, was signed to a PTO by the IceCaps on December 18th and appeared in one game on December 19th vs. the Hamilton Bulldogs.

The Prince Albert, Saskatchewan native recently represented Canada at the 2014 Spengler Cup in Davos, Switzerland, where he notched a goal and finished second on the team in plus-minus (+4) in four games played.

This season, Parent has played six games with the Ontario Reign of the ECHL, collecting one assist. Last season, the blueliner played 26 games with the Norfolk Admirals of the AHL, notching three assists and 26 penalty minutes to go along with four penalty minutes in five playoff games.

For his career, the former Nashville Predators first round pick has played in 106 NHL games with the Philadelphia Flyers and Vancouver Canucks as well as 217 AHL games with the Milwaukee Admirals, Philadelphia Phantoms, Manitoba Moose, Chicago Wolves, and Norfolk Admirals.
