Dallas Reassigns Jokipakka, Honka

CEDAR PARK, Texas - The Texas Stars, American Hockey League affiliate of the NHL's Dallas Stars, announced today defenseman Jyrki Jokipakka and Julius Honka have each returned to the club's roster. Jokipakka has been reassigned from Dallas and Honka is returning from the IIHF World Junior Championships in Canada.

Jokipakka (YIHR-kee YOH-kih-pah-kuh), 23, has appeared in 16 games this season in the NHL, tallying three assists. In nine games this season in the AHL, the 6-foot-3, 210-pound native of Tampere, Finland has a goal for Texas. The second-year defenseman was a seventh-round pick (195th overall) of Dallas in 2011.

The 19-year-old Honka (HAHN-kuh) was representing his native country competing for Team Finland at the World Juniors. Finland was eliminated from the competition Friday night in a 6-3 loss to Sweden. This season with the Stars, Honka has tallied two goals and nine points overall in 28 games. The 5-foot-11, 185-pound Honka is a first-round pick (14th overall) of Dallas in 2014.

Texas has also released forward Taylor Stefishen from his Professional Tryout Agreement, and begins a three-game road trip tonight against the Charlotte Checkers at 6 p.m. CST.
