The Force is Strong with the Cyclones on Star Wars Night

Cincinnati, OH- The Cincinnati Cyclones (12-6-2-2) picked up a 6-4 win over the Evansville IceMen on Saturday night. Forward Andrew Yogan netted a pair of goals, while forwards Jack Downing, Seth Ambroz, Branden Gracel and Joe Wilson potted lone tallies for the Cyclones.

The Cyclones came out firing on all cylinders in the first, as just 8:52 in, Wilson sent a pass to Downing inside the Evansville blue line, and he snapped a wrister from the high slot past Evansville goaltender Matt Zenzola, giving the Cyclones a 1-0 lead.

After Evansville tied the game, 1-1, on a goal from forward Alex Wideman, Cincinnati struck right back, as a backhander from Downing was initially turned aside by Zenzola, but Yogan was following up the play and buried the rebound, putting Cincinnati up, 2-1, after 20 minutes.

The IceMen wasted little time tying the game back up, getting a goal from forward Daultan Leveille just 16 seconds into the second, pulling Evansville even with Cincinnati, 2-2.

Cincinnati was not deterred and regained the lead roughly two minutes later, when Yogan skated over the Evansville blue line and sent a pass to Ambroz who ripped a shot past Zenzola, putting the Cyclones back up by a goal, 3-2.

The IceMen continued to battle, and knotted the game back up, when forward Nathan Moon converted on the power play, bringing the score to 3-3, 3:30 into the second.

Late in the period the Cyclones struck again to regain the lead, when Downing found Yogan sneaking behind the IceMen defense and he fired a shot past Zenzola, sending the Cyclones to a 4-3 lead after two periods.

The back-and-forth continued early in the third period, as just 1:55 into the final frame, forward Tyson Fawcett scored another Evansville power play goal, tying the game back up, 4-4.

As was the case all night long, Cincinnati kept applying the offensive pressure, and midway through the period, a shot from the point from defenseman Steve Weinstein was tipped out front by Gracel into the net, giving the Cyclones the lead back, 5-4.

Cincinnati iced the game with under two minutes left when Wilson skated in on Zenzola and snapped a wrister into the back of the net at the 18:24 mark, sealing the Cyclones' 6-4 win.

The Cyclones outshot Evansville on the night, 28-25, while the power play was held scoreless on all three chances. The Cyclones hit the road next Friday when they take on the Missouri Mavericks. Faceoff is scheduled for 8:05pm ET.
