Elmira Jackals News Release
ELMIRA, NY - December 12, 2015 - Niklas Lundstrom stopped all 46 shots he faced as the Jackals blanked the Norfolk Admirals 4-0 tonight at First Arena. Mike Seidel, Mark Bennett, Justin Kea and Kevin Clare each scored as the Jackals extended their winning streak to five games.
The Jackals jumped ahead in the first period as Mike Seidel buried a beautiful feed in the slot from Chris Langkow as he wrapped around the back of the net and found Seidel for his ninth goal of the season. Nick Petrecki also added an assist on the opening salvo at 10:59. Seidel's goal turned out to be all that Niklas Lundstrom would need to secure the win, but they padded their lead in the second period.
Garrett Ladd raced in on the forecheck, forced a turnover and found Allan McPherson in the slot for a shot which was initially stopped by Adam Courchaine but the rebound found Mark Bennett who deposited it for his fourth goal of the season.
Justin Kea joined the party in the third period with his first goal of the season at 11:31 of the frame. Garrett Klotz played it to Tyler Currier who fed Justin Kea for a missile off the post and past Courchaine. Garrett Klotz's assist was his first point of the season and as a Jackal. Kevin Clare added an empty-net goal at 15:53 assisted by Jacob MacDonald for his third goal of the season. The Admirals fired 28 shots on net in the third period but Niklas Lundstrom was phenomenal turning aside every shot en route to his first professional shutout.
Niklas Lundstrom stopped all 46 shots he faced earning his sixth win of the year. Adam Courchaine allowed three goals on 22 shots faced and was saddled with the loss.
