WEST VALLEY CITY, UT - Ryan Walters goal with just 47 seconds to play in regulation lifted the Utah Grizzlies past the Alaska Aces 3-2 Friday at the Maverik Center.

Utah got off to a good start, leading 2-0 after the first period on goals by defenseman Eric Knodel on a redirect of an Alex Krushelnyski pass at 5:01, followed by Matt Berry's power play goal at 13:29.

Tim Coffman got Alaska on the board with a goal from the slot that beat Utah goaltender Taran Kozun low, and it was 2-1 after two periods.

In the third, Alaska pushed hard for the equalizer, and got it with just 2:10 to play in regulation, as Garet Hunt snapped home a close range rebound shot over Kozun and it was 2-2.

Overtime was not meant to be on this night. A Walters 4 on 3 power play goal, his third goal in 2 games, leaked through Aces goaltender Troy Redmann at 19:13, and the Grizzlies skated off with their fifth consecutive win over Alaska this season.

Kozun finished the game with 28 saves for Utah, while Redmann had 23 for Alaska.

The Aces and Grizzlies conclude their three-game series Saturday at 5:05 Alaska time at the Maverik Center in West Valley City.
