December 12, 2015 - ECHL (ECHL)
Quad City Mallards News Release

RAPID CITY, SD - Sam Warning scored the game winner after Matt Carey- who assisted on Warning's goal- tied the score as the Quad City Mallards (14-8-3) came from behind in the third period to defeat the host Rapid City Rush 2-1 Saturday night.

With the win, the Mallards earned a split of their two-game weekend series in Rapid City and stayed three points ahead of the second place Cincinnati Cyclones in the race for the top spot in the ECHL's Midwest Division.

Carey squared the game at one from the high slot at 7:18 of the third. Warning buried Matt Neal's centering pass to break the deadlock at 10:42.

The Mallards finally broke through in the third after Rapid City's Zach Cohen had give the Rush a 1-0 lead just four minutes and 26 seconds into the game by charging into the goalmouth and batting the puck in out of mid-air after his initial bid was stopped by Mallard goaltender Steve Michalek. Michalek shut the door the rest of the way while making 19 saves.

The Mallards next play at home next Friday, December 18 at 7:05 p.m. against the Wheeling Nailers. The first 1,000 fans through the doors for that game will receive free Mallards winter caps courtesy of KWQC-TV6. Next Friday also brings the return of $1 Dog/$1 Beer Night presented by 97X and MetroLINK College Night.
