North Charleston, SC - The Greenville Swamp Rabbits (11-12-3), proud ECHL affiliate of the New York Rangers and the AHL's Hartford Wolf Pack, suffered a 5-1 setback to the South Carolina Stingrays (14-9-2) on Saturday as Joe Devin scored a hat trick and Mark Dekanich stopped 30 shots at the North Charleston Coliseum. Jordan Knackstedt netted the Swamp Rabbits' only tally in the second period.

Devin opened the scoring just 2:19 into the first period when he corralled David Pacan's feed from the slot and ripped a low forehand shot past Jeff Malcolm as Devin's momentum carried him into the right circle. It was his sixth goal of the season.

The Stingrays extended their lead at 13:17 of the opening frame courtesy of Devin's second goal of the contest. From the top of the point, Devin unleashed a blast that sailed through traffic and past Malcolm to make it 2-0.

Joey Leach capped South Carolina's three-goal first period at the 14:09 mark when he netted his fourth goal of the season following a faceoff win in Greenville's zone. From the right circle, Jordan Kwas won a clean draw to Leach, who sent a one-timer past Malcolm to make it 3-0.

Knackstedt recorded the Swamp Rabbits' only tally at 6:07 of the second period with his fourth goal of the season. Jack Combs and Richard Nejezchleb created the attack when they teamed up in the South Carolina zone before the latter slipped a pass to the back post, where Knackstedt finished with a one-timer.

Devin completed his hat trick at 9:26 of the second period when he jammed home a loose puck from the right post following Brendan Ellis's one-time shot from the point. It was the first hat trick Greenville has allowed this season, which chased Malcolm from the cage. Malcolm was replaced by P.J. Musico for the remainder of the game.

Paul Rodrigues capped the scoring at 17:42 of the third period with his third goal of the season. The former Greenville forward collected a pass from Stephan Vigier behind the Swamp Rabbits' defense and tucked a forehand shot around Musico's left toe pad for the 5-1 final.

Both teams finished the game 0-for-1 on the power play, while South Carolina outshot Greenville 32-31. Malcolm (5-2-2) made 14 saves on 18 shots in the loss and Musico stopped 13 of 14 chances.
