
Texas Stars Add Goalie Todd Ford

Cedar Park, TX - The Texas Stars announced on Tuesday that the team has signed goalie Todd Ford to a PTO (professional tryout agreement).
Ford comes to the Stars from the ECHL's South Carolina Stingrays. At the time of his recall, he was 12th in the ECHL with a 2.88 goals against average and.910 save percentage. Ford also led the league in 16 wins, 1,416 minutes played and 690 saves.
Throughout his six-year career, the Calgary, AB native has appeared in 14 AHL games, all with Toronto. Ford posted a 6-5-0 mark with a 3.40 GAA and a.885 save percentage during his stint with the Marlies.
The 25-year old was 17-15-1 with the ECHL's Victoria Salmon Kings last season. In 35 games with the Salmon Kings, Ford had a 2.64 goals against average and a.915 save percentage. During the 2008 Kelly Cup playoffs, the 6-foot-4, 190-pound Calgary, Alberta native appeared in 13 games for the ECHL's Columbia Inferno posting an 8-4-1 record with a 2.21 goals against average and.936 save percentage.
Prior to turning pro, Ford spent his entire junior career in the WHL, starring for Swift Current, Prince George and Vancouver. The Toronto Maple Leafs selected Ford in the third round of the 2002 NHL Entry Draft (#74 overall).
Texas will host the Syracuse Crunch at 7:30 PM on Tuesday, Dec. 29th. Tuesday night will be HEB Night and Student Night. Fans who bring a non-perishable HEB-brand item to the arena will receive $5.00 off their ticket price. Also, students will receive a discount with the presentation of a college ID. The Stars travel to Manitoba for two road games. The first game is on Thursday, Dec. 31st at 4:00 PM followed by the second game on Saturday, Jan. 2nd at 7:30 PM. Texas returns to Cedar Park on January 6th for a game against the Houston Aeros at 7:30 PM.
