Rockford IceHogs News Release
Milwaukee, Wis.-Apparently Tuesday isn't a good day for a game for the Rockford IceHogs. Playing a rare Tuesday tilt, the IceHogs were blown out of the Bradley Center as the Milwaukee Admirals torched them for seven goals en route to a 7-1 win.
Milwaukee capitalized first off of an IceHogs turnover in the neutral zone. Cal O'Reilly picked off an IceHogs pass and Chris Mueller poked home a Ryan Maki rebound past Alec Richards at 8:08 of the opening frame.
The Admirals later added to their lead moments after a power play expired. Robert Detrich shanked a blast from the blueline, but his shot deflected off of the shoulder of Peter Olvecky, who was camped out in front, and past Richards at 17:41.
In the second period Milwaukee would increase their lead to 5-0. Just :31 into the frame, Ben Guite shoved a rebound in past Richards for his fourth goal of the season, extending the Ads lead to 3-0.
The power play later put Rockford down 4-0 when Colin Wilson finished off an O'Reilly feed for his third goal of the season at 8:42. Dave Scatchard then sniped his eighth goal of the season over the shoulder of Richards to finish off the Admirals second period barrage at 17:47.
The third featured two more Admirals markers as winger Mark Santorelli slipped his fifth goal of the season underneath Joe Fallon at 9:17. Fallon replaced Richards after the second period.
O'Reilly then rubbed more salt in the wound of the IceHogs when he back-handed the Admirals seventh goal of the night past Fallon at 15:55 of the third period.
Matt Keith and the IceHogs ruined Mark Dekanich's perfect night. Keith picked up a Pete MacArthur rebound and knocked in Rockford's only highlight at 19:57 of the final frame.
Rockford outshot the Admirals 33-27 in the blowout loss. The loss marked the worst in Rockford's AHL era, matching a 7-1 defeat to the Chicago Wolves on April 12, 2008. The IceHogs have one other Tuesday left on the slate, April 6 in Houston.
