HARTFORD, December 29, 2009: The American Hockey League announced today that Hartford Wolf Pack center Corey Locke has been named to the Canadian All-Star Team for the 2010 Time Warner Cable AHL All-Star Classic.
This will be Locke's third straight trip to the All-Star Classic, and the fourth of his six-year career. He also was a member of the Canadian squad for the 2006, 2008 and 2009 events, and is tied for the all-time AHL All-Star Classic career scoring lead (eight points) with Binghamton Senator forward Martin St. Pierre.
Locke leads the AHL in points with 41, six points ahead of his nearest challenger. He also paces the league in power-play goals (10), is tied for tops in the AHL in assists (26) and tied for third in goals (15). Locke has posted 14 multiple-point outings among his 34 games-played, including four-point outings October 31 vs. Providence (one goal, three assists in a 7-0 win) and November 19 vs. Wilkes-Barre/Scranton (two goals, two assists in a 5-3 victory). The 5-9, 171-pound Toronto native also has two of the Wolf Pack's four overtime goals on the season, having scored in extra time to beat Manchester November 1 at home and Springfield this past Sunday on the road.
Locke is a veteran of 424 career AHL games with Hamilton, Houston and the Wolf Pack, and has totaled 125 goals and 224 assists for 349 points in AHL action. He was a Calder Cup champ with Hamilton in 2007 and signed as a free agent with the parent New York Rangers July 3, 2009.
The 2010 Time Warner Cable AHL All-Star Classic takes place January 18 and 19 at the Cumberland County Civic Center in Portland, Maine.
