Binghamton Senators News Release
OTTAWA, ONTARIO--(Marketwire - Dec. 29, 2009) - The Ottawa Senators today re-assigned forward Ryan Keller to the club's American Hockey League affiliate, the Binghamton Senators.
Keller was called up for a second time this season on Dec. 26 on an emergency basis to replace injured captain Daniel Alfredsson. He played in Ottawa's 3-2 shootout win over Buffalo on Dec. 26 and 4-2 win over Montreal on Dec. 28. In a total of six NHL games this season, Keller was held scoreless, averaging 6:12 in time-on-ice per game.
The 25-year-old is tied for the team lead in Binghamton with 13 goals, while adding 12 assists and 12 penalty minutes in 24 games. In 94 career AHL games with Grand Rapids, Syracuse and Binghamton, Keller has recorded 57 points (28 goals and 29 assists) and 66 penalty minutes.
Keller spent the previous two seasons playing for the Espoo Blues of the Finnish Elite League (SM-liiga). In 54 games with the Blues last season, he led the team in goals (21), assists (34) and points (55). The 5-10, 190-pound right-winger also led the Blues with 22 goals and 44 points, in addition to a team-high plus-minus rating of +22, in his first season in Finland in 2007-08.
The B-Sens (third East Division, 14-13-3-1, 32 points) next see action on Dec. 30 when they visit the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins.
