
P-Bruins Defeat Falcons 3-2

Springfield, MA - The Providence Bruins defeated the Springfield Falcons 3-2 Tuesday evening in overtime at the MassMutual Center. The P-Bruins got their goals from Kirk MacDonald, Jeff Penner and Andy Wozniewski. The P-Bruins return home to the Dunkin' Donuts Center Friday at 7:05 p.m. for Kid's Hat Night against the Bridgeport Sound Tigers.
The P-Bruins took a 1-0 lead at the 15:09 mark of the opening period. Trent Whitfield held the puck in the corner and sent it behind the net for Yannick Riendeau. He found MacDonald cutting towards the goal, who put the puck in the back of the net for his eighth tally of the season. Providence led 1-0 going into the first intermission.
Providence made it 2-0 at the 3:07 mark of the second period, while on the power play. Mikko Lehtonen sent the puck to Penner into the neutral zone. He skated into the high slot and put the puck into the net for his third goal of the season. Springfield pulled within a goal at the 3:51 mark. Rob Hisey netted his first goal of the season, unassisted. The P-Bruins led 2-1 going into the second intermission.
The Falcons tied the game at two at the 2:42 mark of the third period, while on the power play. Charles Linglet scored his eighth goal of the season, with Hisey and Colton Fretter recording the assists. The game went into overtime tied at two.
In overtime the P-Bruins tallied a power play goal at the 2:18 mark. Whitfield held the puck in the corner and left it behind the net for Lehtonen. He found Wozniewski at the blue line, who blasted the puck into the back of the net for his seventh goal of the season. Providence went on to the 3-2 victory.
Dany Sabourin stopped 30 of 32 shots for the P-Bruins, while Jean-Philippe Levasseur made 28 saves for the Falcons. The P-Bruins were 2-for-7 on the power play and 2-for-3 on the penalty kill.
The P-Bruins are back at The Dunk Friday at 7:05 p.m. for Kid's Hat Night versus the Sound Tigers. Providence heads back to Springfield Saturday to face the Falcons at 7:30 p.m. before wrapping up the week at The Dunk Sunday at 4:05 p.m. for Kid's T-Shirt Night against the Portland Pirates.
