Tulsa Oilers News Release

TULSA, OK - The Tulsa Oilers remained unbeaten this season against the Brampton Beast with a 4-2 triumph on Friday night in front of 10,794 at the BOK Center. The largest crowd of the season witnessed a three-point night from Oilers center Jon Booras and a 33-save performance by Tulsa goaltender, Brandon Anderson. The Oilers swept a two-game set from the Beast and improved to 4-0-0 in the season series.

For the first time in four meetings with the Beast, the Oilers scored the first goal of the game. Kyle O'Kane finished a drive down the left wing of the Brampton zone by tucking a shot behind Beast goalie Grant Rollheiser at the 11:17 mark of the opening period. O'Kane's 14th strike of the season held up for the remainder of the frame and Tulsa carried its 1-0 edge into the first intermission.

Just over two minutes into the second period, 40-year old Brampton forward David Ling orchestrated a nifty display of power play passing with Justin Donati and buried a shot from close range to level the contest at 1-1. The Tulsa power play responded at 9:47 as a quick wrist shot from Adam Pleskach whizzed past Rollheiser to push the Oilers back in front. Pleskach connected for his 25th goal of the season, the second-highest goal total in the ECHL.

Early in the final frame, Ling zipped a pass from behind the Oilers' net to the waiting stick of Tyson Fawcett who was racing down the middle of the Tulsa zone. The 21-year old All-Star selection, ripped a shot past Anderson at 2:43 to knot the contest at 2-2. With Brampton defenseman Riley Austin in the penalty box for holding, the Oilers power play capitalized for the second time in the contest. Only 63 seconds after Fawcett found the net, Tulsa blue-liner Dave Pszenyczny blasted a one-timer through Rollheiser to give the home side a 3-2 advantage. The Oilers recorded multiple power play goals for the fifth time this season and went 3-for-9 on the man-advantage in the two games against the Beast this week. Booras notched his third point of the affair with an empty net goal at 18:58 to seal the victory for the Oilers.

Brampton finished with a 35-32 edge in total shots on goal but Anderson routinely came up with stellar stops to earn his second win in as many nights. The Oilers, 7-0-0 all-time on home ice against the Beast, moved into a tie for second place in the Central Division. Tulsa held its opponent to two goals or fewer for just the fifth time in the last 18 games while the Beast remained winless while trailing after two periods.

The Oilers will take the rest of the weekend off and return to action on Thursday, February 5th to host the Rapid City Rush at 7:05 p.m.
