INDIANAPOLIS - In the second game of a three-game home stand at Indiana Farmers Coliseum to round out the team's January schedule, the Indy Fuel battled to the bitter end, but ultimately fell to the Reading Royals on Friday by a final score of 3-2. With the loss, the Fuel's franchise-record winning streak and nine-game point-streak came to an end, as Indy fell to 14-22-4-3 overall this season and with 35 points, remain alone in sixth place in the ECHL's North Division standings.

Reading grabbed an early 1-0 lead on Friday as Zach Davies tallied his fourth score of the season at 1:44 of the opening stanza. Then, at 10:09, a Cam Reid power-play goal nudged the Royals advantage to 2-0 on feeds from Maxim Lamarche and Jordan Heywood.

In a wild second period, the Royals extended their lead at 9:36 on a point-blank top-shelf finish from Reid, but the Fuel scratched across their first goal of the game at the 14 minute mark when Vincent Arseneau hacked a puck out of mid-air on feeds from Nick Jones and Garett Bembridge to make it 3-1 Royals heading into the second intermission. A third-period power-play score from Kyle Stroh at 9:18 made things interesting for the Fuel, but Indy ended up falling despite a furious last-minute rally by a final score of 3-2.

In his first appearance since a 30-save performance in a 2-1 overtime win in Evansville on Sunday, Indy goaltender Shane Owen took the loss despite 23 saves and Connor Knapp earned the victory in net for the Royals, stopping 29 of the 31 pucks he faced.
