ESTERO, FL - Allen York stopped all 33 shots faced to earn his fourth shutout of the season as the Florida Everblades defeated the Greenville Road Warriors 4-0 at Germain Arena Friday night.
The Everblades jumped out on top with a power play goal at 3:52 of the first period. Brant Harris directed a shot off the pad of Greenville goaltender Jason Missiaen. The rebound bounced to Cameron Burt who flipped the puck into the net for the goal.
Less than three minutes later, Harris grabbed a goal of his own. Mitch Wahl delivered a pass toward the net which was slowed off a Greenville defender's stick. The puck then skipped directly to Harris who instantly fired a shot into the net to extend the Everblades lead to 2-0.
Florida built up its lead when Evan Bloodoff carried the puck from end-to-end and curled a wrist shot from high at the right wing circle that ripped past Missiaen for the tally to put the 'Blades on top 3-0 after two periods.
In the third, Allen York continued his stellar play in goal for Florida. York turned aside all 13 Greenville shots in the final stanza to help preserve the shutout and the eventual win.
The Everblades added an insurance goal on the power play when Adam Brace slipped a shot low on the ice from the slot past Missiaen to secure the 4-0 victory.
York earned his fourth shutout of the season stopping all 33 shots faced, while Missiaen takes the loss allowing four goals on 24 shots.
GAME NOTES: Gleason Fournier who was acquired from Orlando on Thursday, recorded an assist in his Everblades debut....Adam Brace extended his point streak to seven games. The streak begin back on Jan 16...The shutout win was the fifth shutout posted by the Everblades this season (Allen York - 4, Andy Iles - 1).
The two teams will meet again on Saturday on the fan painted ice surface (pictured below, from last year's paint the ice game) Game time is set for 7:00 p.m. .
