TULSA, OK - The Tulsa Oilers of the ECHL announced today that left wing Tommy Mele (MEAL-ee) has been called up to the Oklahoma City Barons of the American Hockey League. Mele, who participated in the Barons' training camp prior to the start of the season, will play in his first AHL game tonight as Oklahoma City hosts the Lake Erie Monsters at 7:00 p.m. at the Cox Convention Center.

A 28-year old from Bronx, New York, Mele scored his 13th goal of the season on Thursday night in the Oilers' 5-2 victory over the Brampton Beast. Through 43 games this season, the fourth-year pro recorded 25 points (13 goals, 12 assists) and a team-high 136 penalty minutes. Mele has already set new career-highs in goals, assists, points, and penalty minutes without missing a single game this season.

Prior to his time in Tulsa, Mele, 5-foot-11, 188-pounds, began his pro career in Fort Wayne (ECHL) in the 2011-12 season where he helped the Komets claim the 2012 Kelly Cup Championship. Last season, Mele captured the second title of his pro career as a member of the Alaska Aces (ECHL). He appeared in 57 games for Alaska during the regular season and posted six points in 17 playoff games as the Aces earned the 2014 Kelly Cup.

The Oilers are back on home ice at the BOK Center at 7:35 p.m. to close out a two-game series against Brampton. With Mele on his way down the turnpike, Charles Lachance has been activated off the reserve list and will be in the Tulsa lineup tonight.
