Greenville Swamp Rabbits News Release
FORT MYERS, FL - Florida goaltender Allen York stopped all 33 shots he faced on Friday as the Greenville Road Warriors (25-15-3), proud ECHL affiliate of the New York Rangers and the AHL's Hartford Wolf Pack, fell to the Everblades 4-0 at Germain Arena. The loss snapped Greenville's eight-game unbeaten in regulation streak on the road and dropped the club to 11-9-3 away from the Bon Secours Wellness Arena this season.
York (16-4-3) now leads the league with four shutouts in 24 appearances this season.
Florida entered tonight's contest with the league's second-best power play (23.2%) and continued that success at 3:52 of the first period when Cameron Burt gave the Everblades a 1-0 advantage. With Kyle Jean in the box for goaltender interference, Mitch Wahl fed the puck to Brant Harris at the side of the Road Warriors' net, who turned and attempted to jam the puck home. Goaltender Jason Missiaen stood his ground on the initial chance, but the rebound popped loose and slid to the slot where Burt finished for his fourth of the season.
Less than three minutes later, Harris put Florida ahead by two when he beat Missiaen glove-side at the 6:18 mark. From the left corner, Wahl directed the puck to the side of the crease where Harris bounced a quick shot off of Missiaen and into the back of the net for his ninth goal this season.
The Everblades extended their lead to 3-0 at 7:10 of the middle frame courtesy of Evan Bloodoff's 15th goal this season. After collecting the puck in the neutral zone, Bloodoff led a 2-on-2 rush across the blue line and sniped a shot from the top of the right circle past Missiaen at even strength.
Florida capped the scoring with its second power-play goal at 14:17 of the third period for the 4-0 final. With Emerson Clark, Bretton Cameron and Florida's Gleason Fournier in the box for roughing, Burt slipped a pass to Adam Brace in the slot for the one-time tally. Brace nearly fanned on the attempt but caught just enough of the puck to redirect a slow shot under Missiaen for his team-leading 18th goal this season.
The Road Warriors finished the game 0-for-4 on the power play and 1-for-3 on the penalty kill. Missiaen (9-7-1) made 20 saves but suffered the loss.
Greenville outshot Florida 33-24 and now trails the season-series 1-2-0.
