KELOWNA, B.C. - Cole Temple led the way with a hat trick as the Everett Silvertips swept their regular season series with the Kelowna Rockets Friday night at Prospera Place in Kelowna with a 7-3 win.
Hiroki Gojsic opened scoring for Kelowna 51 seconds into the contest when a lively bounce off the boards converted to a breakaway backhanded goal. Landon DuPont netted a powerplay goal 10:33 into the first period, a heavy shotthrough traffic snuck past the leg pads of Jake Pilon.
Carter Bear tapped in a rebound of a Jesse Heslop shot to give the Tips a 2-1 lead 5:18 into the second period. Kayden Longley tied the game, deflecting a long shot by Jacob Henderson 7:34 into the second period. Cole Temple answered back 15 seconds later, leaning into a wrister that rocketed past the glove of Pilon for a 3-2 Everett lead.
Shea Busch recorded the Tips' fourth tally and game0winning goal, tapping a cross-crease pass from Tyler MacKenzie soaring over the shoulder of Pilon 8:45 into the frame. Cole Temple grabbed his second goal of the evening 9:44 into the period with a laser wrister from the slot.
Tarin Smith scored the Tips' sixth goal of the night, tapping in a Tyler MacKenzie spinning cross-ice pass 10:15 into the second period.
Hiroki Gojsic grabbed his second tally of the night with 7:28 remaining in the second period, off a blind drop pass from Michael Cicek to stop the bleeding momentarily for the Rockets.
