Toledo Walleye News Release

(Toledo, Ohio) The Toledo Storm, ECHL affiliate of the NHL's Detroit Red Wings and Chicago Blackhawks, announced today that forward Jamie Tardif has signed a player tryout agreement (PTO) with the Grand Rapids Griffins while forward Evan McGrath has been recalled to the same club. In a separate move, the Storm sign goaltender Ervins Mustukovs (Moo-sti-koofs), who will be in action tonight against the Dayton Bombers.

Tardif, the 2007 ECHL All Star, will see time with his third AHL team this season; he's signed PTO's with the Manitoba Moose and Iowa Stars earlier this season. He played in a combined total of 3 games, and went scoreless during that stretch. In 33 games with the Storm this year, Tardif has tallied 29 points (10 G, 19 A) with 37 PIM.

After joining the Storm on January 18th, McGrath was recalled by the Grand Rapids Griffins today, after having a great offensive weekend with Toledo. The Detroit Red Wings product netted a goal and added three assists in three games last weekend. The Griffins play in Rochester tonight and host the Toronto Marlies on Saturday.

With Dominic Vicari still in Grand Rapids and Mike Brodeur headed back to Norfolk, the Storm sign goaltender Ervins Mustukovs to fill the void. The Riga, Latvia native joins the Storm after playing in 13 games with the Knoxville Ice Bears of the SPHL. During those games, Mustukovs went 7-4-1 with a 3.23 goals-against average and a .906 save percentage. Prior to this season, he skated with the Drummondville Voltigeurs of the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League (QMJHL). Mustukovs is expected to start tonight when the Storm take on the Dayton Bombers at 7:00PM in Dayton.

The Storm will play 7 of their next 8 games away from Toledo Sports Arena, beginning next Friday night against the Dayton Bombers at 7:00pm from the Nutter Center. Toledo will return to the home ice on January 31st when they will host the Trenton Titans at 7:30pm from Toledo Sports Arena!
