
Swing to hold fourth annual 5k race

The Swing of the Quad Cities will host the fourth annual Swing 5K Home Run and Kids Fun Run, sponsored by Gatorade, on Sunday, May 21. Proceeds from the race will be donated to the Quad Cities' Child Abuse Council.
The racecourse is a flat, scenic, USA Track and Field certified course along the Mississippi River, which begins at John O'Donnell stadium, under the Centennial Bridge and finishes by running into the stadium.
Registration begins at John O'Donnell Stadium at 7:30 a.m. on the day of the race. The Kids Fun Run will start at 8:30 a.m. with the 5K race starting at 9:00. The top three finishers in each age division will receive a trophy. Age divisions range from 19-and-under through 70-and-over. All participants will receive a Swing baseball cap and a ticket to Sunday's game to watch as Quad Cities takes on in-state rival Clinton.

UP NEXT: The Swing of the Quad Cities will make up Sunday's game in Burlington as part of a doubleheader set to begin at 6 p.m. on Monday night. The Swing will then head to Cedar Rapids for a four-game series with the Kernels beginning Tuesday. First pitch is scheduled for 6:30 p.m., with live coverage on Progressive Talk AM-1270 beginning 15 minutes prior to gametime.
NEXT HOMESTAND: After a 12-game trip around the Midwest League, the Swing will return to John O'Donnell Stadium on May 20 for an eight-game homestand. Quad Cities will welcome two in-state rivals to town, as the Clinton LumberKings come in on May 20 and the Cedar Rapids Kernels visit starting May 25.
UPCOMING PROMOTIONS: Saturday, May 20 will be John Deere' Employee's Night with fireworks brought to you by i-wireless, KWQC, and Q106.5. Sunday, May 21, will be a Mix 96 Family Fun Day, followed by a Q106.5 $1 Monday on May 22. If you have been waiting for Wild West Night, that is coming up on May 25 in conjunction with a 97 Rock/Pluckers Thirsty Thursday. Your favorite characters from the Rugrats will be at John O'Donnell Stadium on May 26 thanks to Mediacom, and Star 93.5. Fans will also receive a complimentary copy of Baseball America magazine. The busy homestand will conclude with a baseball cap (Mountain Dew, 97 Rock, Fox-18) giveaway on May 27 and another Mix 96 Family Fun Day on May 28 - also Scott County YMCA's day at the ballpark with post-game fireworks sponsored in part by KWQC/KUUL/WOC.
