Wisconsin Timber Rattlers News Release
FOX CITIES STADIUM -- Jeff Stevens and Bo Lanier combined on a five hit shutout to lead the Dayton Dragons to a doubleheader sweep of the Wisconsin Timber Rattlers Monday afternoon. Stevens pitched 5-2/3 innings allowing just five hits and striking out five. BJ Szymanski and Habelito Hernandez added a pair of RBI to provide the offensive support.
Dayton (20-18) got all the runs they would need in the top of the third inning. An error allowed the first run to score. Then, Szymanski doubled home a run. Hernandez capped the inning with a two-run single.
The Rattlers (16-21) pur two runners on base with two out in the bottom of the sixth inning and Lanier relieved Stevens. He promptly got the final out to squelch the potential rally.
Dayton tacked on two more runs in the top of the seventh. Mike DeJesus doubled in a run and scored on a single by Szymanski.
Lanier pitched a scoreless ninth and the Dragons had their sweep.
Wisconsin hits the road for a four game series with the Kane County Cougars starting Tuesday night. Justin Thomas (3-3, 2.13ERA) is the scheduled starting pitcher for the Timber Rattlers. Game time at Phil Elfstrom Stadium is 6:00pm.
