LAST TIME OUT: The Scranton/Wilkes-Barre RailRiders fell to the Columbus Clippers 3-2 on Tuesday night at PNC Field. Scranton/Wilkes-Barre got on the board in the bottom of the first inning against Columbus starter Shawn Morimando. A double from Tyler Wade and a single by Abiatal Avelino put runners on first and third with no outs. Shane Robinson singled in Wade for the first run of the game. Two batters later, a Kyle Higashioka groundout plated Avelino to put the RailRiders ahead 2-0. The Clippers answered in the top of the second with a solo home run from Brandon Barnes off Ryan Bollinger to cut the deficit to 2-1. That would be the only run Bollinger would allow in his Yankees organizational debut. The 6-foot-6 southpaw threw five innings and allowed a just one run on four hits, walking two and striking out five. Joe Harvey (0-1) struggled in his RailRiders debut out of the bullpen in the top of the sixth. After two singles and a fielder's choice, Yu Chang snuck a two-run double down the left field line to put Columbus on top for good, 3-2.

FLOATING THROUGH: Columbus is in town for three games; the only series between the RailRiders and the Clippers in Moosic this season. The Clippers were the New York Yankees Triple-A affiliate from 1979-2006, but have been with Washington and Cleveland since the Yankees shifted to Northeast Pennsylvania. The Clippers lead the all-time series 156-121 entering Wednesday's series finale.

SILENT NIGHT: Before falling 3-2 Tuesday night, Monday's 9-0 victory was the first shutout tossed by Scranton/Wilkes-Barre pitching this season. The RailRiders pitching staff recorded 10 for pitching coach Tommy Phelps last season and a remarkable 23 during Phelps first year running the staff in 2015. Entering Wednesday's game, the staff ERA is 3.83 which is 9th in the 14-team IL. It led the league with a 3.33 ERA in 2017 and a staggering 2.98 ERA in 2016.

THEY GROW UP SO FAST: This series does not feature any preseason Top-10 propsects according to MLB Pipeline once Gleyber Torres was promoted before the Clippers got to town. However, reports were swirling late Tuesday night that Gwinnett Stripers OF Ronald Acuna Jr. (ATL, No. 2) was being promoted to Atlanta, meaning that three of the top 5 propects in baseball (Shohei Ohtani, LAA, No. 1; Acuna; Torres, NYY, No. 5) have reached the big leagues this season. Columbus C Francisco Mejia was preseaon No. 11 and is now the No. 8 active prospect in MiLB.

WADE AT THE TOP: Tyler Wade was optioned to Scranton/Wilkes-Barre Monday. He was batting .086 for New York this season with three hits over 35 at bats. Wade appeared in 85 games for the RailRiders last season, batting .310 with seven home runs and 31 runs batted in. MiLB.com tabbed Wade as an end-of-season Yankees Organizational All-Star for his efforts with the RailRiders. The utility man hit in the leadoff spot for the RailRiders Monday.

OFF THE RAILS: Gleyber Torres was recalled by the New York Yankees Sunday morning and made his Major League debut in the Yankees win over Toronto, going 0-4. He followed that performance with a 2-4 Tuesday, including his first MLB RBI.

AROUND THE ORGANIZATION: Up in the big leagues, the Yankees came away with an 8-3 win over Minnesota. Gary Sanchez went 2-4, 2 HR, 2 R, 3 RBI and Didi Gregorious 3-4, HR, R, 3 RBI connected on his 8th homer of the season to put him T-2nd in MLB behind Mike Trout (10 HR).
