INDIANAPOLIS - Syracuse scored its first two runs of the series in the eighth inning and plated another two in the 10th to steal Indianapolis' homestand finale, 4-2, Wednesday afternoon at Victory Field. The Indians' pitching staff had combined for 25 consecutive scoreless innings before things unraveled over the final three frames.

Irving Falu single-handedly lifted Syracuse (11-7) to victory. With two men in scoring position and two outs in the eighth, he bounced a slow grounder between Tribe pitcher Tyler Jones (BS, 1) and first baseman Jerrick Suiter for an infield single. The tricky ground ball - fielded and underhand flipped from Suiter to Jones - plated two runs, as both Tuffy Gosewisch and Hunter Jones scored on the play.

When the game reached extras, Falu gave the Chiefs their first lead of the series, slapping a two-run single to left off Damien Magnifico (L, 0-1) to provide the final margin.

With the new extra-inning rule in effect (a runner placed at second base to begin each half-inning), Indianapolis (9-8) had a chance to tie and eventually win the ballgame with one swing. Kevin Newman singled to start the home half of the 10th, moving pinch-runner Pablo Reyes to third. After a popout, a wild pitch advanced Newman to second. Austin Meadows and Jordan Luplow were both retired by David Goforth (W, 2-1), however, to seal Indy's fate.

The Tribe scored the game's first run in the third thanks to Suiter's hot bat. The Indiana native doubled off the top of the right field wall to start the inning and later scored on a Newman groundout. Jacob Stallings then doubled Indy's lead in the fifth, working a bases-loaded walk against Christopher Smith.

Clay Holmes had to settle for no decision, despite throwing five scoreless innings. He yielded two hits and two walks with four strikeouts, lowering his lifetime ERA at Victory Field to 2.48 (22 ER/80.0 IP) in 17 games (16 starts).

Indy's rotation posted a 0.85 ERA (3 ER/31.2 IP) on the 4-2 homestand.

The Indians begin a six-game road swing in Columbus on Friday, April 27, with first pitch set for 7:15 p.m. Austin Coley (1-1, 10.80) will start Game 1 for the Tribe.
