Scranton/Wilkes-Barre RailRiders News Release

ABOUT LAST NIGHT: A little bit of everything added up to a lot as the RailRiders clipped the Pawtucket Red Sox on Tuesday night, 4-3. SWB secured the series win over the defending Governors' Cup champion and will bid for a sweep of Pawtucket this afternoon.

WE'RE NO. 2!: The RailRiders win coupled with losses by everyone in front of them in the division, including Pawtucket's fourth in a row, combined to forge a tie for second place in the division between SWB and the PawSox. The RailRiders had not sat above third in the division since they shared the penthouse after winning on Opening Day.

ONE-RUN FUN: The RailRiders improved to a league-best 11-5 (.688) in single-score contests.

HOMECOMING KING: Pawtucket native Mason Williams went 2-for-4 with two doubles, a run scored and a sacrifice. After starting his Triple-A tenure 1-for-10, Williams has hit safely in four straight games going 8-for-17 (.471) with four extra-base hits and four runs scored.

WALK ON: Rob Refsnyder received the first intentional walk of his career in the ninth inning to create a lefty-lefty match-up for Robbie Ross, Jr. against Kyle Roller. Refsnyder enters today in a five-game funk (1-for-20, 4K) that has seen his average drop from .308-.277.

ON A ROLL: Roller went 2-for-3 with a double, two walks and a run scored. He leads the league with 30 free passes drawn.

SAVE ME: Nick Rumbelow posted his fifth save in nine tries. He fired two innings of scoreless and hitless baseball. Matt Daley led last year's RailRiders with nine saves while Jim Miller paced the 2013 club with six. SWB has not seen a pitcher post double-digit saves since both Kevin Whelan (12) and Ryota Igarashi (10) turned the trick in 2012.

ARE YOU TOO GOOD FOR YOUR HOME?!: The RailRiders stand five games below .500 at PNC Field (11-16) and six games over on the road (13-7). The team has hit .277 on the road compared to a .247 mark at home. On the road, SWB has scored 96 runs in 20 games (4.8/game). At home, the squad has plated 90 runs in 27 games (3.3/game). The pitching has performed better at home (3.40 ERA) than outside of Moosic (3.77). No IL team has a better road winning percentage than the RailRiders (.650) and no IL squad has more home losses than SWB (16).

ROAD WARRIORS: The RailRiders have won six straight games away from PNC Field going back to their four-game sweep of Durham from May 14-17. The team's last six-game road winning streak was started at McCoy Stadium on May 18, 2014. The RailRiders claimed the final three in a four-game set at Pawtucket and began the next road trip with three straight wins at Louisville. Today the team bids for its longest road winning streak since it claimed eight straight away from Moosic. Those eight wins came in a single road trip when SWB swept Charlotte and Gwinnett from April 29-May 5, 2013.

OFF THE RAILS: Tyler Austin has hit safely in six straight games, going 8-for-22 (.364) in that time...After losing the first two meetings with Pawtucket to start the season, SWB has claimed the last four in a row...Tyler Webb inherited two runners and allowed one to score...He has still stranded nine of his 10 inherited runners on the year.
