Hand Earns First Win over Toledo, 10-2

LOUISVILLE, Ky.- Donovan Hand (1-2) earns his first win as the Louisville Bats (24-23) took the series finale against the Toledo Mud Hens (19-27) ,10-2.

The Bats didn't wait long to grab the lead in the bottom of the first. While the bases were loaded, center fielder Yorman Rodriguez singled on a line drive to right field allowing two Bats players to come home and a throwing error by the Mud Hens brought in a third run putting Louisville ahead 3-0.

Keeping the trend going in the second the Bats tacked on another two runs from a RBI double by shortstop Hernan Iribarren and later a RBI single from first baseman Ivan De Jesus taking it to a Bats 5-0 lead.

Third baseman Chris Dominguez slams his fourth home run of the season in the third with two Bats on base stretching it to a 8-0 game.

Making it a 10-0 lead in the fifth, catcher Chris Berset knocked a line drive to center field for a two run RBI.

The Mud Hens brought in their only two runs of the game in the sixth from a homer by right-fielder Steven Moya.

Right-hander Donovan Hand threw six innings sealing the win for the Bats allowing four hits, two earned runs, struck out three and one home run.

Righty Derek Hankins (2-5) for the Mud Hens exited the game in the fourth. Hankins pitched three innings, gave up eight hits, eight runs, seven of which were earned, three walks, striking out two and gave up one home run. Relieving Hankins was right-handed pitcher Jose Valdez.

This is the first time since July of 2014 that the Bats have hit over .500 as a team.

The Bats take the day off tomorrow but head to Pawtucket Rhode Island Friday for a three-game series vs the Red Sox at 7:05. Taking the mound for Louisville is righty Josh Smith (1-1, 4.64) and left-hander Eddie Rodriguez (4-3, 2.98) for Pawtucket.
