ESTERO, FL – The ECHL has announced that Florida Everblades center Damian Surma has been named the CCM Tacks ECHL Player of the Month for October. Already this week, Surma has earned Player of the Week and Plus Performer of the Month honors.

At the end of October, the 23-year-old centerman led the ECHL in scoring with 12 points (7g, 5a) and was a league-high plus-9. In the five games the Everblades played in October, Surma had two multiple goal games, and four multiple point games. The highlight for the former 6th round draft pick of the Carolina Hurricanes, came when he notched his first professional hat trick, and collected four points overall, on October 29 versus the Mississippi Sea Wolves in a 6-3 win by Florida. In addition, Surma notched a league-high plus-4 rating on October 30 at Pensacola in a 5-4 loss.

Surma, who is in his third professional season, helped Florida go 3-2-0 to start the season. The award caps off an impressive week for the Lincoln Park, MI native who collected eight points in three games last week.

Florida begins a six-game west coast swing on Thursday, November 4 when the team travels to San Deigo to take on the Gulls beginning at 10:05 p.m. EST.
