Smyth & Sipotz Assigned to Gladiators from Chicago

The Gwinnett Gladiators announced today that they have been assigned right wing Adam Smyth and defenseman Brian Sipotz from the Chicago Wolves of the American Hockey League. They also announced that goaltender Adam Berkhoel has been recalled to Chicago.

Sipotz joins the Gladiators after playing four games with the Wolves and spending four years at the University of Miami (Ohio). The 6-foot-6 defenseman accumulated 39 penalty minutes in 36 games with 3 assist while at Miami University. The Granger, Indiana native was selected in round 4, #100 overall, in the 2001 NHL entry draft by the Atlanta Thrashers.

Smyth spent the majority of the 2003-2004 season with the Owen-Sound Attack of the OHL, before joining the Port Huron Beacons. While he was with the Attack, Smyth played in 42 games totaling 11 goals and 11 assists for 22 total points. The Wiarton, Ontario native has played in one game with the Chicago Wolves.

Before being recalled to Chicago, Berkhoel has appeared in 4 Gladiators games this season totaling 1 win and 3 overtime/shootout losses.

The Central Division Champion Gwinnett Gladiators continue their second season on Friday, November 5th at 7:35 p.m. as they host Mississippi.
