Condors' James Named CCM Vector ECHL Rookie of the Month

PRINCETON, N.J. - Bakersfield Condors left wing Connor James is the CCM Vector ECHL Rookie of the Month for October.

Selected in the ninth round (279th overall) by the Los Angeles Kings in the 2002 NHL Entry Draft and under contract to the Kings, the 22-year-old James scored in each of the Condors first three games to help Bakersfield open with three consecutive wins and second place in the West Division.

The 5-11 and 185-pound James registered his first professional point with an assist in his first game with the Condors, a 7-2 season-opening win on October 22 against Victoria. He had another assist on October 23 in a 2-1 win against Victoria. Playing his third game in three days, James scored his first goal, a shorthand goal, and assisted on the game-tying goal for his first multiple-point game as a pro as Bakersfield posted a 5-4 come-from-behind win at Long Beach.

Among ECHL rookies, James finished October tied for the lead in shorthand goals while his three assists tied him for second and his four points tied him for fifth in scoring.

In his senior season with the University of Denver in 2003-04, James scored 38 points (13g-25a) in 40 games while helping lead the Pioneers to the NCAA Championship, assisting on the game-winning goal in the final game and earning all-tournament honors.

In four seasons with Denver, James scored 150 points (57g-93a) in 160 games, including a personal best 20 goals and 43 points as a junior in 2002-03.
