HAGERSTOWN, M.D. - The Hagerstown Suns (33-13) came back from as many as four runs down on Friday night and eventually walked-off with a 6-5 win over the Asheville Tourists (26-20) in front of 1,122 at Municipal Stadium. With the win the Suns improved their record when trailing after eight innings this season to 4-8.

Down 5-4 heading into the bottom of the ninth, 2B Wilmer Difo led off with a ground ball single up the middle. Third baseman Drew Ward followed with a double to right, which brought Difo home and tied the score at 5-5. Ward advanced to third when the next batter, DH John Wooten, singled to center field. Two batters later, 1B Jimmy Yezzo brought Ward home with a ground ball single up the middle to win the game.

The Tourists had broken a 4-4 tie with a run in the seventh. Center fielder David Dahl led off that inning with a triple to right. Two batters later, RF Raimel Tapia sent a line drive double to right, driving in Dahl to make it 5-4.

The first four Asheville runs all came in the first inning, when they sent eight batters to the plate. A leadoff walk to Dahl got the rally going. Three batters later with two on and one out, 3B Ryan McMahon and 1B Correlle Prime hit back-to-back doubles, driving in a combined three runs to make it 3-0. The final run of the frame scored on an RBI double by catcher Jose Briceno.

The Suns chipped away at that initial Ashville lead by plating one run each in the second and fourth innings, and two in the third. In the second inning Yezzo drove in a run with a groundout to second base. In the third a two-out single by Difo drove in the first run of the frame, and that was followed by an RBI double by Ward. In the fourth Hagerstown knotted the score at 4-4 thanks to an RBI single by CF Rafael Bautista.

LHP Justin Thomas (2-4) earned the win for the Suns. He threw two scoreless and hitless innings while striking out one. RHP Austin Voth started for Hagerstown and pitched five innings, allowing four earned runs on five hits and one walk while striking out seven. RHP Dylan Stamey (1-1) suffered the blown save and loss for the Tourists. He gave up two earned runs on four hits in just 0.1 innings.

These two teams continue their four-game series at Municipal Stadium on Saturday May 24. The Suns will send RHP Jake Johansen (3-1) to the mound for his ninth start and appearance of the year. He will square off against RHP Konner Wade (3-4) for Asheville. First pitch is scheduled for 7:05pm.
