With the win, the Fuel's fourth consecutive victory, Indy improved to 18-22-4-3 overall this season and with 43 points, surged into fifth place in the ECHL's North Division standings.

After a scoreless first period, the Fuel manufactured a 1-0 lead at 11:40 of the middle frame when Rhett Bly fed Evan Vossen on a left-wing zone entry that the former McGill University captain turned into his fifth goal of the season. In the third, Kalamazoo scratched across a tying goal at 12:42 when Ludwig Blomstrand shocked the Fuel with a right-circle blast, but in overtime Indy center Kyle Stroh delivered his league-leading eighth game-winning goal of the season at 4:33 as the Vibank, Saskatchewan native drove the net and redirected a Nick Bruneteau feed to claim victory for the Fuel.

A 24-save performance in net for Mac Carruth delivered the reigning Warrior Hockey ECHL Goaltender of the Month his ninth consecutive victory in net for Indy while veteran net-minder Joel Martin took the loss for Kalamazoo despite 24 saves of his own.
