Utah Grizzlies News Release

West Valley City, Utah - The Bakersfield Condors defeated the Utah Grizzlies (21-19-4-3) 3-2 Saturday night at Maverik Center before 5,708 fans.

"We've got to have a good week of practice," said Head Coach/GM Tim Branham. "We need it, that's for sure. Coming off of a loss will put a bitter taste in our mouth all week, which is great. Hopefully we'll be chomping at the bit on Friday but we've got a few things to accomplish this week."

The Condors built a 2-0 first period lead with goals at 9:16 and 17:59 as each team got nine shots in the first period.

"The first period absolutely killed us," said Branham. "It wasn't everybody. For the most part I thought we played a decent period. We had a few guys that let the team down, to be honest. We can't have that. We need to make sure everyone is on the same page and everyone is ready to go."

Igor Bobkov made 19 saves in the second period, including several early as the Condors had two power-plays and the game stayed 2-0. Mathieu Aubin hammered in his 18th goal of the season seven seconds into a power-play with 8:05 left in the second after Michael Pelech rang a post off of the face-off.

Bobkov stopped a breakaway in the final minute of the second period to keep it 2-1, before the Condors scored four-on-four 1:38 into the frame.

TJ Syner (7) scored shorthanded 12:37 into the third as Alex Krushelnyski got the puck to Hardowa, who fed the puck to the right wing circle.

Utah took a late penalty and wasn't able to tie.

Bobkov stopped 34 of 37 in the loss as his eight-game winning streak at Maverik Center is snapped.
