Alaska Aces News Release

ANCHORAGE, Alaska - Brendan Connolly and Greg Wolfe combined for eight points and posted three apiece in the first period, helping the Alaska Aces cruise to a 6-1 victory over the Stockton Thunder before 4,450 fans at Sullivan Arena on Saturday night.

For the second straight night, the Aces put on a rout with a balanced attack and special teams efficiency - four different players registered multi point games while the power play turned in a 2-of-4 night. Alaska's penalty kill held Stockton's power play (entering the game at 5th in the ECHL) to an 0-of-8 clip and Johan Gustafsson improved to 4-1-0 with the Aces on a 27 save effort.

The Aces also improved to 5-2-1 on their season-long nine game homestand, moving to within five points of fourth place Utah.

Bryan Cameron extended his goal scoring streak to four games on a rebound at the goal mouth, set up by Greg Wolfe's deflection on the power play at 2:26 for a 1-0 advantage. Wolfe then wheeled a pass to Connolly, who turned Brad Steber to the inside at top speed and followed up his own shot for a remarkable goal at 4:33 and a 2-0 lead.

Colten Hayes, left wide open, then ended a 12-game goal scoring drought for a 3-0 bulge, set up by Bryan Cameron's centering pass from the left corner after Cameron shook off a Tyler Shattock check and drew three defenders into the area.

Francis then converted a Wolfe pass off the rush and beat Cody Reichard, blocker side from the right circle, for a 4-0 lead at 12:49 of the opening period. Stockton's only goal was a J.P. Chabot finish from between the circles, set up by Shattock from behind the net, at 14:09.

Following a second period scrap between Justin Johnson and Garet Hunt just three seconds in, Wolfe and Tyler Currier then went to work to put the game out of reach. They scored in a span of 59 seconds in the second period, blowing the score open at 6-1. Wolfe buried a power play goal under the crossbar from the left circle and Currier beat Reichard from the right circle for his second goal of the year at 8:33 for a 6-1 lead.

With the game at an academic stage in the third period, Stockton outshot the Aces, 7-4.

Reichard took the loss with 19 stops and fell to 0-4-1 in his career against Alaska.
