K-Wings Sign Bartus

KALAMAZOO- The Kalamazoo Wings have signed goaltender Garrett Bartus. Bartus will join the K-Wings this afternoon for their game at the Indiana Farmers Coliseum against the Indy Fuel.

Bartus began the season in the SPHL with the Pensacola Ice Flyers before begin called up to the ECHL by the Fort Wayne Komets. Besides the Komets, Bartus also played one game this season with the Greenville Road Warriors. While Bartus' first full season was last year when he played 24 games with the Evansville IceMen, actually made his professional debut during the 2012-13 Kelly Cup Playoffs coming in relief for 16 minutes for the Road Warriors.

Before turning pro, Bartus played his collegiate hockey for the University of Connecticut Huskies. Bartus, who is a two-time team MVP for the Huskies, holds the UCONN team records for career saves (2,816) and shutouts (5). Garrett played junior hockey in the NAHL for the Mahoning Valley Phantoms and the St. Louis Bandits.

In a separate transaction, the K-Wings have waived goaltender Larkin Saalfrank.
