Streek's Two Goals Leads Chiefs to 4-1 Win in Front of Sold out Crowd

Carter Streek scored two goals to help lead the Spokane Chiefs to a 4-1 win over the Portland Winterhawks on Friday night in the Spokane Arena. The game was played in front of a sell-out crowd of 10,363, the largest of the season for the Chiefs and their first sell-out since 2019. Making up over half of the crowd tonight was students, parents, and staff from 67 schools throughout the region. In total, 5,581 school night tickets were sold with $11,058 raised by the Chiefs and their fans going back to local schools and Shriners Hospital for Children - Spokane.

The Chiefs led wire-to-wire, scoring twice in the first. Kooper Gizowski's ninth goal of the season led Spokane off at 17:26. Michael Cicek and Cole Wadsworth had the assists.

Streek's first of the night, a tap-in on a two-on-one with Tommy De Luca, acted as the game winner 19:14 into the opening period. Ty Cheveldayoff had the second assist.

Portland cut the lead in half at 10:05 of the second on Marek Alscher's eighth of the season.

Cheveldayoff, from Will McIsaac, tallied his 20th of the year at 14:17. Streek added to the insurance with his 13th of the season at 14:53. De Luca had his second assist of the night and Brayden Crampton also helped.

The win was the Chiefs second straight at home, both against the Winterhawks, dating back to February 15th. In their last two home games the Chiefs outscored the Winterhawks 10-3 and outshot them 66-58.

Dawson Cowan turned in another impressive shift in goal stopping 30 of the 31 shots he faced including all 14 in the third period as Portland pushed for a comeback that never came. The Chiefs penalty kill stood tall keeping Portland out of the net in 5 out of 5 chances. Spokane was 0-3 on their own power play.

Up next, the Chiefs are right back at the Spokane Arena tomorrow night for a special Chiefs Fight Cancer game vs rival Tri-City. Spokane will be wearing specialty jerseys that will be auctioned off throughout the game. Proceeds from these game-worn jerseys will go to benefit Every Woman Can, the Chiefs local Cancer Awareness Charity Partner. Make sure to arrive early as the first 5000 fans will also receive a limited-edition Chiefs Fight Cancer rally towel.
