Join the Blades and Help Save Lives at Our Swab Event
February 24, 2023 - Western Hockey League (WHL)
Saskatoon Blades News Release
The Saskatoon Blades are proud to host a Swab Event alongside Hockey Gives Blood in support of the Run for Mandi Schwartz group!
We're inviting anyone between the age of 17-35 to join the Canadian Blood Services stem cell registry in memory of Mandi Schwartz on Monday, Feb. 27 between 4:00pm-6:00pm at the Blades team store (105-2803 Faithful Ave).
Show up for your chance to enter a raffle, meet the Blades and win a special prize!
Run for Mandi (Saskatoon) was founded by a small group of volunteers with two main purposes:
Raise awareness for Canada's National Stem Cell Registry
Raise funds for the Mandi Schwartz Memorial Bursary at Notre Dame College, as well as local Saskatchewan events supporting cancer awareness or treatment
Mandi lost her battle with Acute Myeloid Leukemia (AML) in 2011 after she was unable to find a stem cell donor match. There are approx. 900 Canadians waiting for a stem cell transplant to save or improve their life.
Every swab counts and has the potential to be life-saving.
Be a Hero and register at the event or online at blood.ca/BeAHero
