
Pats Begin Home and Home with Brandon on the Road

Regina, Sask. - The Regina Pats begin a crucial home-and-home set with the Brandon Wheat Kings on Friday night inside Westoba Place at 7:00 p.m.
The Regina Pats have won their last two games as they are coming off a 6-3 win over the Medicine Hat Tigers on Wednesday night at the Brandt Centre. Connor Bedard tallied five points (1G-4A), Tanner Howe collected four points (2G-2A), Zack Stringer tallied three points (1G-2A) and Tye Spencer and Sam Oremba chipped in with goals for the Pats. Drew Sim made 26 saves for his 23rd win of the season. The final shots were 31-29 for the Pats. Regina finished 2-5 on the power play and 4-6 on the penalty kill.
The Pats are now in sole possession of sixth in the Eastern Conference standings with 57 points. It's the first time since December 16 that the Pats have sat as high as sixth in the conference. In the month of February, the Pats are 5-3 with a +3 goal differential, outscoring their opponents 37-34 over their last eight games.
Meanwhile, the Brandon Wheat Kings are coming off a 4-3 overtime loss to the Prince Albert Raiders on Monday on home ice. The Wheat Kings got goals from Nolan Ritchie, Dawson Pasternak and Luke Shipley, taking a 3-2 lead into the third before allowing the tying goal late and the overtime winner to former Pat' Sloan Stanick. The final shots were 33-26 for the Wheat Kings. The Wheat Kings went 2-3 on the penalty kill and 2-4 on the power play.
The Wheat Kings have now dropped three of their last four games (1-2-1-0), having been outscored 15-to-12 during that time. The Wheat Kings are 14-9-6 since making a coaching change on Nov. 28, with Marty Murray taking over as both Head Coach and GM. Brandon is currently three points out of a playoff spot while five points back of the Pats for sixth in the conference.

The Pats are 9-5-1 over their last 15 games since Jan. 8, defeating the Calgary Hitmen twice (6-2 & 6-5), Saskatoon Blades (7-4), Portland Winterhawks (4-3), Swift Current Broncos (5-2), Lethbridge Hurricanes twice (3-2 & 4-2), Moose Jaw Warriors (8-4) and Medicine Hat Tigers (6-3), which comes following a three game skid from Jan. 1 - Jan. 6...during that time, they have outscored their opponents 70-to-62.
