Storm Put Out The Inferno

(Toledo, OH) The Toledo Storm (25-20-1) Used Dominic Vicari and Mike Walsh to defeat the Columbia Inferno (19-25-7) 3-0 tonight in front of 5,010 at the Toledo Sports Arena.

Mike Walsh collected his first career hat trick to provide all the scoring that Toledo would need. Mike has 10 goals on the season. His first goal came at 17:46 of the first period when he took a pass from Brent Sullivan and roofed it past goaltender Robert Gherson (L, 26 saves). Nick Parillo also assisted on the goal. The game stayed a one-goal contest until 6:30 into the third when on the power play Walsh struck again tipping a loose puck home (Bruce Mulherin, PJ Martin). With just 2 seconds left, Walsh capped his night with the empty netter for his third of the game (PJ Martin, Nick Parillo).

Dominic Vicari collected his first shutout making 34 saves for the win. It was the ninth win of the year as he yielded just 1 goal in two games against the Inferno. The third period was his finest as he stopped all 16 Inferno shots. Toledo finished 1-3 with the man advantage while holding Columbia in 6 power plays against.
