'Catters Crush Pensacola, Tie Season High in Goals in 7-3 Win

Beaumont, TX (February 17, 2007) Mike Bayrack, Kevin Baker and Alex Leavitt each had two goals as the Wildcatters (29-14-5-4) scored a total of seven times in a 7-3 drubbing of Pensacola in front of 1,866 at Ford Arena. James Sanford also scored and Marco Rosa added four assists as the Wildcatters tied their season high with seven goals.

The 'Catters took a 2-0 lead after the first period as Kevin Baker scored 47 seconds in and James Sanford tallied his goal with under two minutes remaining in the period. Baker added his second goal of the game and 28th of the season following the Ice Pilots' first score in the second period. John Hecimovic netted his first of two on the afternoon to cut the 'Catters lead to 3-2. Texas would take control after as Bayrack scored twice and Leavitt scored two third period goals and the Wildcatters went on for the 7-3 win.

Matt Yeats made 24 saves for his 21st win of the season. Yeats has started 13 consecutive games for the Wildcatters. Texas out shot Pensacola 37 to 27. The 'Catters concluded the contest 1 for 5 on the power play with the Ice Pilots going 2 for 7. With the win, Texas is now three points ahead of Gwinnett for first place in the South Division.
