West Valley City, Utah - The Stockton Thunder (31-22-4-5) scored four third period goals to defeat a shorthanded Utah Grizzlies (30-25-4-2) group 6-1 Saturday night at Maverik Center before 5,016 fans.

A shorthanded team to start the game, Utah finished the contest with just 12 of 16 skaters eligible to dress.

"Everyone in that locker room is sticking together, no one's feeling sorry for themselves and we'll just keep competing," said Grizzlies Head Coach Kevin Colley.

Utah tied the contest at one as Max Tanguay redirected a Marcus Carroll pass into the net 1:34 into the second period. The contest stayed tied for the next 16:17 and Utah had some close calls to take the lead, including a late power-play.

Stockton made it 2-1 on an odd-man rush late in the second period and never looked back as Utah battled fatigue, trying to hang in the contest. Stockton scored three goals in the final 5:03, which included an empty-netter as Utah made one last effort.

Utah goaltender Shane Connelly made 37 saves as he held Utah in the contest for as long as possible.

Utah completes their series with Stockton Sunday at 4 p.m. A win clinches Utah's fourth-straight playoff berth and fifth post-season in the last six years.
