Elmira Jackals News Release
The Elmira Jackals announced on Saturday that forward Oren Eizenman has been assigned to the club by the AHL's Connecticut Whale while defenseman Drew Paris has been recalled by the AHL's Toronto Marlies. Additionally, the Jackals have signed defenseman Vinny Geonnetti to a standard player contract.
Eizenman, who has been with the Whale since Nov. 25, started the season with the Jackals, notching 19 points (5g-14a) in 13 games. The fourth-year pro from Toronto posted an eight-game point streak from Oct. 23 to Nov. 20, collecting four goals and 11 assists for 15 points during that stretch. Eizenman had two assists in a 2-1 win against Alaska in his latest game with the Jackals on Nov. 24, one day prior to his recall to the Whale.
Paris has six points (2g-4a) in 20 games since the Jackals obtained his ECHL rights from the Gwinnett Gladiators in late January. He is +4 with Elmira.
Geonnetti, a native of Philadelphia, Pa., is in his second professional season. He played 24 games with the Battle Creek Revolution (AAHL) this season, accumulating 13 points (2g-11a) and 68 penalty minutes, fourth most on the club. As a rookie in 2009-2010, Geonnetti posted nine points (2g-7a) in 20 games with the New York Aviators (NEPHL) and registered seven points (2g-5a) in 14 games with the Chi-Town Shooters (AAHL).
The Jackals attempt to complete a weekend sweep of the Gwinnett Gladiators at 7:35 p.m. tonight at First Arena. To purchase tickets call (607) 734-PUCK (7825), visit the First Arena Box Office, or log onto JackalsHockey.com.
