The Elmira Jackals will attempt to complete a two-game weekend sweep of the Gwinnett Gladiators at 7:35 p.m. at First Arena. The Jackals moved into a tie for sixth place in the Eastern Conference standings last night by defeating the Gladiators in downtown Elmira, 2-1.
ON FIRE AT FIRST ARENA
Elmira has won six-straight games at First Arena and is now one victory shy of tying a team record in ECHL play. The club's home winning streak of six games is the longest active such streak in the league.
The Jackals won seven-consecutive regular-season contests at First Arena from Mar. 29 of the 2008-2009 season to Oct. 31 of the 2009-2010 campaign. The longest home-winning streak for the Jackals in ECHL play within the same season is six games from Nov. 23 to Dec. 15 of the 2007-2008 season.
The Jackals' longest home winning streak since beginning play in 2000 is 10 games, accomplished twice in their UHL days. Elmira won 10-straight games at First Arena from Jan. 19 to Mar. 1 of the 2002-2003 season and won 10-straight games from Mar. 19 of the 2003-2004 season to Oct. 22 of the 2004-2005 campaign.
DUBUC EXTENDS GOAL STREAK
Michael Dubuc stepped into sole possession of first place on the Jackals with his 23rd goal of the season last night, extending his goal-scoring streak to four games. Dubuc's career long goal-scoring streak is five games, which he set in his rookie season of 2008-2009 with the South Carolina Stingrays from Feb. 14 to 21.
