Peoria Returns RW Jim McKenzie from AHL Loan

STOCKTON, Calif. - The Stockton Thunder, proud ECHL affiliate of the National Hockey League's Edmonton Oilers and San Jose Sharks, announced right winger Jim McKenzie has been returned to the Thunder from loan to the Peoria Rivermen of the American Hockey League on a professional tryout agreement (PTO).

McKenzie, who scored a goal in his Rivermen debut on Wednesday, is expected to suit up tonight in the Thunder's next game at 6:05 p.m. (1280 KWSX/StocktonThunder.com), visiting the Utah Grizzlies at Maverik Center.

The 27-year old has skated in 48 games for the Thunder this season, scoring 22 points (9g-13a) while posting 79 penalty minutes. He previously suited up in two games for Worcester in the AHL this season and made his debut with the Sharks on Nov. 27 vs. Charlotte.

The 6-foot-2, 210-pound forward was acquired from Greenville on Aug. 26, 2010 in exchange for the rights to left wing Igor Gongalsky and has suited up in 67 career AHL games with Peoria, Worcester, Binghamton and Lake Erie from 2007-11, scoring nine points (4g-5a) and posting 33 penalty minutes.

Last year, McKenzie totaled ECHL career-highs in points (40), goals (16) and assists (24) in 2009-10 with the Johnstown Chiefs, suiting up in 55 games and collecting 107 penalty minutes. He also skated in two AHL games with Lake Erie.

A two-time recipient of the ECHL "Award of Excellence," Thunder has led the ECHL in attendance for four consecutive seasons, was voted "Best Local Sports Team" by readers of the San Joaquin Magazine for the third straight year, and drew over 200,000 fans for the fifth consecutive season in 2009-10.
