South Carolina Stingrays News Release

The Week That Was:

The Stingrays hit the road last week as they traveled to Mississippi to face the Sea Wolves and to Pensacola to take on the Ice Pilots. After a loss on Tuesday, the Stingrays turned things around and won three in a row to finishing the week 3-1-0, earning six points.

On Tuesday, the Stingrays had two goals from Chris Chaput and a goal from Andrew Gordon, but could not overcome the Sea Wolves who won 5-3.

Looking for redemption, the Rays played the Sea Wolves again on Wednesday. This time, the Stingrays were three for nine on the power play, out-shot Mississippi 55-29, and won 5-3. Pierre-Luc O'Brien had two goals in the contest, with Gordon, Steve Pinizzotto, and Stephen Werner collecting the other tallies for the night.

From there, the Rays traveled to Pensacola. T.J. McElroy had the game winning goal, his first of the season, in overtime as the Rays defeated the Ice Pilots 3-2. Other goals were scored by Pinizzotto and Gordon.

The Stingrays looked to continue their winning streak the next night as they played the Ice Pilots again. Behind goals from five different Stingrays players the Rays won 5-2.
