Johnstown Chiefs News Release

Columbia, SC - The Chiefs took advantage of a fortuitous bounce to take a 1-0 lead at 18:26 of the first period. Jason Spence had a centering pass by Mark Tobin bounce off of his skate behind Columbia's Todd Ford. B.J. Crum picked up the other helper.

Mike Falk, playing in his first game as a Chief, scored with 30.2 seconds left in the second period to extend the Chiefs' lead to 2-0. Falk tipped in a long cross-ice pass by Nick Bachand on the play and Vincent Zaore earned the other assist.

The Inferno would battle back with five third period goals, however, and start the Chiefs 0-2 on the southern road trip. Five different players scored with Tyler Doig, Patrick Wellar, Jeremy Hall, Jeff Miles, and Todd Perry scoring in succession. Doig's and Perry's goals came on the power play.

Andrew Penner finished with 24 saves on 29 shots while his counterpart, Ford, was 26-for-28. The Chiefs were 0-for-4 on the power play while Columbia was 2-for-4.

The Chiefs' next home game is on Friday December, 21 against the Cincinnati Cyclones. The PA Lottery is sponsoring a scratch off ticket giveaway at that game, and Santa Clause will also be on hand for the Chiefs' Christmas celebration!
