South Carolina Stingrays News Release

NORTH CHARLESTON, SC The South Carolina Stingrays help building houses for Habitat for Humanity tomorrow afternoon. The team will be working on Wednesday, December 10 from 12:00 to 3:00 PM on a house on Peace St. in the Rosemont district of Charleston. This is the third year that the Rays have volunteered for Habitat for Humanity.

"This project not only supports a worthwhile cause, it has evolved into a team building exercise for us," explained Stingrays Head Coach Jason Fitzsimmons. "Some players have more building experience than others, but everyone works hard and has a great time."

Charleston Habitat for Humanity is a nonprofit housing ministry seeking to eliminate poverty housing, and to make decent housing a matter of conscience and action. Their mission is to bring an end to substandard housing in the cities of Charleston and North Charleston.

Since its start in 1989, Charleston Habitat has built over 40 homes and housed nearly 200 people. Habitat invites people from all walks of life to work together in partnership to build houses for families in need.

The Rays will work on two separate work sites on Peace St. The entire team, coaching staff and front office staff will take part in the event.

South Carolina returns to the ice at the North Charleston Coliseum on Friday night when they host the Gwinnett Gladiators at 7:30.
