Former Rivermen Head Coach Bob Plager to Sign Copies of His Book - Tales from the Blues Bench - on F

Peoria, Ill. (December 9, 2003) – General Manager Bart Rogers of the Peoria Rivermen of the ECHL announced today that former Rivermen Head Coach Bob Plager and author Tom Wheatley will sign copies of their new book – "Bob Plager's Tales from the Blues Bench – A Collection of the Greatest St. Louis Blues Tales Ever Told" – on Friday, December 12, when the Rivermen face off against the rival Johnstown Chiefs.

Plager, who guided the Rivermen to a World Record, 18-game winning streak and the 1991 Turner Cup Championship, will sign copies of the book before the game and during the first and second intermissions. The winning streak and Plager's time in Peoria are featured on Pages 126-128. Rivermen beat writer Dave Eminian is also mentioned.

Wheatley, who co-authored the book, will also be on hand. He has covered sports for almost 20 years for the St. Louis Post-Dispatch and is a four-time Missouri Sportswriter of the Year.

On Friday, December 12 and Saturday, December 13, the Rivermen host the rival Johnstown Chiefs for two straight games at Carver Arena. Game times are 7:05 p.m.

On Friday, December 12, it is a Coca-Cola Finally Friday. Fans may bring a Cherry Coke or Vanilla Coke can to the Carver Arena Box Office to receive a 2-for-1 Upper Bowl ticket offer. Fans are also encouraged to bring a new toy for the U.S. Marine Corps' "Toys for Tots" Holiday Drive. And the Rivermen will wear special Christmas Jerseys to be auctioned off after the game.

On Saturday, December 13, The Incredible Hulk stomps his way into Carver Arena and will sign autographs throughout the game. Tickets for both games are available by calling 673-3200.
