PRINCETON, N.J. - Former Trenton left wing Patrick Leahy became the 228th former ECHL player to advance to the National Hockey League when he made his debut with the Boston Bruins on Saturday. Leahy played three shifts in the 1-1 tie with Philadelphia on Saturday, and played nine shifts in Monday's 2-2 tie with Ottawa.

Prior to being called up to Boston, the 24-year-old Leahy had scored 17 points (9g-8a) in 23 games with Providence of the American Hockey League.

Leahy was drafted in the fifth round (122nd overall) by the New York Rangers in the 1998 NHL Entry Draft, but he never came to terms with the Rangers instead joining Trenton. Leahy, who was born in Boston, scored three points (1g-2a) in nine regular season games with Hershey and two points (1g-1a) in nine regular season games with Portland. He scored four points (2g-2a) in 14 regular season games and seven points (3g-4a) in 20 playoff games with Bridgeport.

Leahy becomes the 13th ECHL player to make his NHL debut in 2003-04 joining Johnathan Aitken (Chicago on November 26), Darryl Bootland (Detroit on November 8), Travis Brigley (Colorado on October 26), Garrett Burnett (Anaheim on October 8), Andrew Hutchinson (Nashville on October 18), Boyd Kane (Philadelphia on October 16), Pat Rissmiller (San Jose on November 13), Nathan Robinson (Detroit on November 28), Michael Ryder (Montreal on October 9), Dany Sabourin (Calgary on October 29), Rastislav Stana (Washington on November 14), and Mike Stuart (St. Louis on October 24).
