Church, Denike Recalled…Chouinard Returning to Royals

READING, PA –The Manchester Monarchs, the AHL affiliate of the Reading Royals, announced today that forward Brad Church and goaltender Terry Denike have been recalled to Manchester. The Monarchs have also reassigned goaltender Mathieu Chouinard to Reading.

Church, 28, a first round draft choice of the Washington Capitals in 1995, earns his first promotion to Manchester this season. The Dauphin, Manitoba native leads the team in goals scored (10) and points (20). His five power play tallies are also ranked first on the Royals club. Church's five multiple point efforts ranks him second on the club. Currently, is second in the ECHL with 107 shots on goal. Church has over 300 games of American Hockey League experience for Portland, Cleveland and Lowell. He began the season attending the Manchester Monarchs training camp.

Goaltender Terry Denike has been recalled to Manchester. The fifth round draft pick of the Kings in 2001 has appeared in two games with Reading this season and posted a 0-1-1 record. Denike stopped 38 shots in his first professional contest. Both starts for the Lake Superior State University graduate came against Northern Division foe Wheeling.

Chouinard, who is under contract with the Los Angeles Kings, makes his second appearance in Reading. Chouinard was reassigned to Reading on November 20 for conditioning purposes. He appeared in one game for the Royals on November 22 and recorded a 6-2 win. He has appeared in eight games with the Monarchs and posted a 2-2-0 record with a 2.56 goals against average and a .901 save percentage.

The Royals host a pair of games at the Sovereign Center this weekend. Reading battles the Trenton Titans on Saturday night at 7:05 p.m. The Council on Chemical Abuse is providing the first 2,000 fans through the gate with Royals thunderstix. Sunday, Reading plays host to Toledo at 5:05 p.m. Special guests in attendance at the game are from the Children's Hospital of Philadelphia. The kids will be transported to the game on the Royals team bus, enjoy complimentary tickets to the game and a private post-game party with the players.
