NORTH CHARLESTON, SC South Carolina Stingrays Head Coach Jason Fitzsimmons announced today that the team has signed center Dustin Johner for the remainder of the season. Johner will be in uniform for the Stingrays tonight when they host the Augusta Lynx.

"Dustin gives us a chance to improve our team," explained Fitzsimmons. "He has been a top player in the Western Hockey League with Seattle, he has a proven ability to score and will help us with face-offs in both zones."

Johner is a rookie who was drafted in the sixth round of the 2001 NHL entry draft by the Florida Panthers. He has spent the last five seasons playing junior hockey with the Seattle Thunderbirds of the WHL. A native of Sylvan Lake, Alberta, Johner stands 5'11 and weighs 177lbs.

The Rays have three of their final four games remaining at home, beginning with tonight's game against the Augusta Lynx. The Stingrays can wrap up a berth in the Kelly Cup Playoffs by winning three of four games.
